about the position…

If you wake up in the morning, ready to change lives, then we need YOU! Yes, you. We’re putting together an elite team of future field supervisors, and they need a leader. You take on challenges like a champ, jumping at every chance you get to think outside the box. You follow your own, sometimes unconventional, paths because you know there’s more than one route to success. You don’t just get a thrill out of making something your own, you make it happen. Sound like you? Read on, warrior.

This is a unique opportunity for someone eager to shape the next generation of Power Design employees, and the future of the industry. You’ll build, manage and champion our nationwide electrical apprenticeship program from the ground up, and serve as a career coach along the apprentice track.

position details/responsibilities…

As the career development manager for the field you’ll:

  • Form a mentorship program for apprentices and provide support through their educational and career paths, from apprentice to electrician, and eventually to a future leader of field operations.
  • Create and manage your own apprenticeship program success team (because there’s a lot to do and you’ll need help).
  • Have an eye for the ideal apprentice candidate, identify the best sources of hiring, and ensure candidates meet and maintain Power Design standards.
  • Leverage relationships and resources across the country to pipeline a quality candidate pool.
  • Know how to shape someone, who has never used a tool before, into a journeyman.
  • Work with senior leaders and key industry organizations (such as the IEC and ABC) to help shape the future of our organization and market the program.
  • Evaluate the performance and qualities of apprentices and assigned mentors.

here’s what we’re looking for…

  • An innovative team leader with 3+ years of recruitment, training and project management experience. We won’t cap your creativity…you just need to bring the passion.
  • A professional who is poised and able to communicate and interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communicator and problem solver with a drive for results who won’t get discouraged easily or take ‘no’ for an answer. Go big or go home mentality.
  • You must be detail-oriented, extremely organized and able to multitask and deliver results in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment with very strict, changing deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Construction industry knowledge preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  • Willing to travel 30-40% of the time.
  • Demonstrate and uphold all of Power Design’s core values, which include integrity, accountability, teamwork, innovation and growth.
  • Non-smoker.
